Regular Season Round 3: Arecibo - Quebradillas 79-77

Sixth-ranked Piratas (0-5) were very close to win a game against Capitanes (4-2) in Arecibo. Capitanes managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great evening for American guard Derrick Walton Jr (185-1995, college: Michigan) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 8 assists. Australian forward Jack McVeigh (203-1996, college: Nebraska) helped adding 23 points and 8 rebounds. Capitanes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Dominican swingman Victor Liz (190-1986) with 21 points and DR Congolese guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-1996) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes will play against Ponce (#4) at home in the next round. Piratas will play against Mayaguez and hope to get finally their first victory.
